Completely Necessary is Cozy Writing Co.’s weeklong event of interesting things to make, try, learn, explore, and get entirely too into—for no better reason than they looked like a good time. So of course, we made a magazine about it.

You know the concert program you pick up at the show and take home with you? It’s a little like that.

Yes, but I don’t have THIS one.

The Eras Tour book with 500+ photos, the Supernatural: Complete Series Blu-ray with a 68-page collectible book, the UK issue of Cosmopolitan because it was the one with Lili Reinhart on the cover.

Some things simply aren’t a regular-edition situation.

That’s what we wanted the Collector’s Edition to feel like: part souvenir, part bonus material, part extremely good excuse to keep the whole Completely Necessary situation around a little longer.

So we gave ourselves more pages for the interesting people and things you met during the event, added more things to read, try, track, play around with, and get unexpectedly invested in, and tucked the whole directory in there, too.

Because the event may only last a week, but determining which fictional TV town you should retire to is the sort of important work that can’t be rushed.

  • Is this an actual magazine?
    Well... yes. But not one that’s going to show up printed in your mailbox. The Collector’s Edition is a 170+ page digital magazine delivered as a PDF. Download it, keep it, read it on a screen, print the whole thing, or print just the pages you want to scribble all over.

    Do I need the Collector’s Edition to enjoy Completely Necessary?
    Absolutely not. The entire live event is free. The Collector’s Edition is the take-home version: everything gathered into one place, plus event trackers, achievements, print-and-play extras, additional pages, and a few things we decided the magazine needed once nobody was supervising us.

    What’s the deal with December 6?
    Your Collector’s Edition is yours to keep. December 6 only applies to the contributor gifts and special offers linked inside it. Those are guaranteed to be available through December 6; after that, contributors may remove them, move them, or return them to their usual prices.

    Can I still buy this after Completely Necessary ends?
    Yep. The live event disappears November 15, but the Collector’s Edition will probably stick around for a little while. We’re just not making any lifetime commitments about exactly how long.
